Date, time & venue

2018-04-21;;Diocesan Girl School

By Mr. Benjamin Lam

There was invitation from Diocesan Girl School (DGS) on 21 April 2018 for Career Fair 2018 at the Assembly Hall of the school. The main aim of the fair is to enable the students to learn about different careers and professions.  Through this fair, the School hopes the students will be able to interact with and learn from professionals who are day-to-day practitioners and experts in their respective fields. The Fair is to arrange all the professional representatives to be stationed at tables in the hall, and for the students to move freely around the venue to these different stations. The representatives would not need to give speeches nor make presentations; rather they would be there to answer questions and to speaker to and guide the students on an individual or small group basis in order to create a comfortable environment for the students to interact with.

On the day, there are 6 representatives from HKIE representing the Engineering sector to attend the Career Fair. They were  Mr. Benjamin Lam and Mr. Martin Siu (Past chairman of Associate Members Committee); Ir Louis Yiu (Treasurer of Control, Automation and Instrumentation Division) ; Miss Jacqueline Chan (Committee member of Environmental Division ) and Ir Jovian Cheung, Ir Sally Leung (representatives from Women in Engineering Group) to talk with the students about the career path for different engineers. Many students would like to know the work of an environmental, civil engineers and its career path to a professional engineers and their salary. There are about 80 students interacted in individual or in group throughout the afternoon..
