Technical Webinar: Metaverse and Blockchain! Why are they needed and why are they interdependent?

Date, time & venue

2022-09-22;6:30pm-8:00pm;Webinar via zoom

Organised by HKIE-CA Division

Programme Highlights

Blockchain technology initially created a decentralised economy parallel to the traditional centralised one. The technology has advanced and evolved rapidly in a mere few years, with implications far beyond the financial context. It has enabled concepts that were considered futuristic just a few years ago, to take real shape today, one of them is the “Metaverse”. The Blockchain-based NFTs and cryptocurrencies provide an ecosystem for creating, owning, and monetizing our digital assets in the Metaverse, in other words, blockchain allows such virtual space to operate on the principle of decentralisation, transparency and immutability — which fundamentally distinguish the metaverse from the current internet.
