Jointly organized by CAD, AMC and UniSA Alumni HK – Doctoral Society
Supported by Chartered Association of Building Engineers Hong Kong Chapter
Programme Highlights:
The importance of ‘Historical Dimension’ for ‘Engineers in Society’ has always been emphasized; it is prudent for engineers to consider the critical factors of community culture including historical buildings during design and construction stages.
‘Yau Tsim Mong’ District is at south of the Kowloon Peninsula. Since Ming Dynasty, civilization/heritage of human could be traced. After 1860, the District was mainly served as military bases, and plenty of shops were found as well. Since early 20th Century, it has been developed into three major commercial and residential areas: Tsim Sha Tsui, Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok.
Nowadays, the District has been established as a harmonious community with rich cultural vibrancy and ethnic diversity. There are many historic buildings and themed streets which bear witness to changes and the Hong Kong people's way of life.
