Voltage dip ride-through feature in escalator has been introduced for more than 15 years in Hong Kong.  By applying this leading feature in escalator, the tripping events of the escalator under voltage dip event can be dramatically reduced.  It enhances both passenger safety and system operation.

Nowadays, more than a thousand of escalator units run with voltage dip ride-through feature in Hong Kong that is serving millions of passengers per day.  Because safety is a critical concern in the society, EMSD has specified the guidelines to guidance the voltage dip ride-through feature in the escalator system.  In this seminar, the technical requirement of how to implement the voltage dip ride-through feature in escalator as per EMSD design code of practice will be introduced.  Also, from the client and Registered Escalator Engineer point of view, how to specify and to verify this feature in the escalator system will also be addressed.
