Technical Seminar on “ Sustainability Thinking: Perspectives from Higher Ed”

Date, time & venue

2017-11-10;6:30pm to 8:00pm;Chan Yat Mei Sophie Room – 9/F

Jointly organised by EVD, CAD, and AMC

Programme Highlights

A recent study concluded that today’s graduating students will change careers (not just jobs, but careers!) at least six times before they retire.  How are universities preparing students for this requirement for flexibility and life-long learning? A clear understanding of sustainability concepts and principles is becoming a staple of the university education process, and is rooted in the prediction that students with these abilities are more prepared to succeed in their future careers. Not just for environmentally-minded students any longer, sustainability is becoming a bridge for science, engineering, and business students to explore new methods and approaches to solving some of society’s most pressing problems. This presentation will explore how the education process is evolving to include broad-based, skill-oriented training for the future workforce, and how employers can benefit.
