Jointly Organized by
AMC, CAD, and EVD Programme Highlights:
Have you ever wondered what nuclear fusion and plasma technology
are? And what they have to do with healthy living? While high-temperature plasma technology for
fusion still has many challenges to overcome, low-temperature plasma technology
has been successfully developed for many other applications, including air
purification or sanitization. The use of
plasma technology for air purification will be discussed.
There are many types of air purifiers using various technologies
and all of them claiming an efficacy of over 90%. Do they really perform the same? Are there any differences? This talk will introduce the concept of Clean
Air Delivery Rate and Cumulate Clean Mass for quantifying purification
performance and compare the performance of various technologies.
Speakers
Ir
Dr. Herman Tsui is a nuclear engineer and worked on R&D of fusion energy in
UK and USA. Currently, he specializes in industrial
application of plasma technology and has successfully applied to air sanitization. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at
the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
He
earned a BSc degree in Nuclear Engineering from Manchester University
and a PhD degree in Applied Physics from UMIST.
