Technical Webinar: Implementation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure by WSD in Hong Kong

Programme Highlights

Smart Metering System has been a hot topic in the industry for a decade and many utilities in world are implementing such systems with different strategies and technologies. Water Supplies Department has also started implementing Advanced Metering Infrastructure in year 2018 in order to improve meter reading efficiency and provide more detailed water consumption information to customers. The data obtained can also improve operation of the water supply network and encourage water conservation. 

In this seminar the unique challenges of implementing Advanced Metering Infrastructure in HK will be discussed. The strategy, implementation plan and current status will also be explained.

Speaker

Mr Charles Law completed his electrical engineering degree study in The University of Hong Kong and his Master of Philosophy study on power electronics in the same university. He entered Airport Authority Hong Kong after this has graduated and worked on various projects including Automated People Mover system, Baggage Handling System, Airfield Ground Lighting system and other major constructions projected. He then entered Water Supplies Department (WSD) and worked on a number of projects including the TKO Desalination Plant, In-situ Reprovisioning of Sha Tin Water Treatment Works (South Works) and Digital Twins projects. He is now a Senior Electrical Engineer in WSD responsible for the design, planning and implementation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure, IoT platform, and other R&D projects.
