Programme Highlights

The Paper Award Competition is organized by the Control, Automation & Instrumentation Division (CAD) and co-organized by the Institute of Measurement and Control, Hong Kong Section with the aim to promote the Control, Automation & Instrumentation technologies and to encourage young / potential engineers and technologists to join us. The theme of the Paper Award Competition is “Engineering a New Horizon from 70 Years Foundation - The Automation Era” to support our The HKIE CAD 30th  Anniversary  Symposium.

The champion of the Paper Award Competition may be arranged to present the paper during the CAD Symposium to be held. Papers of all the winners (champion, outstanding paper awards) will be published in the Symposium Proceedings. The award presentation will be held during the CAD Symposium.

Eligibility

Full-time and part-time students from local, Macau and Mainland tertiary institutions, including the programmes of Higher Diploma, Associate Degree, Bachelor and Higher Degrees, and engineering professionals are welcome to join the Paper Award Competition. Paper can be submitted by individual or in a group up to FIVE members. 

Format of Paper

Please keep all printed material, including text, illustrations, and charts, within a print area of  6-1/2 inches (16.51 cm) wide by 8-7/8 inches (22.51 cm) high. Do not write or print anything outside the print area. Text should be fully justified. The paper can be written either in English or Chinese. All Paper must be original work. Papers should not exceed 10 pages (A4 sizes) in length, including the abstract, subject matters, acknowledgement and reference. They must be in PDF format and passed to the Judging Panel by e-mail ONLY. The e-mail address is slmak@hotmail.com .

Late submission will not be considered.

Important Dates 

Deadline of Paper Submission : 22^th January 2018 (Monday)

Notification of Paper Award : 29^th January 2018 (Monday)

Award Presentation : 9^th February 2018 (Friday)

Best Paper Award

The best paper will be selected by the Judging Panel. The selection is based on the academic merit, innovativeness and potential application of the ideas, and writing style of the papers. There are a total of three prizes of "Best Paper Award". A certificate and a cash cheque will be presented to the award winners at the Annual Dinner of CAD.

Group A: Sub-degrees and degrees

              Champion – a certificate, HK$1,500 cash prize

              Outstanding Paper Award – a certificate, cash prize

Group B: Higher Degrees students

              Champion – a certificate, HK$1,500 cash prize

              Outstanding Paper Award – a certificate, cash prize

Group C: Engineering Professional

              Champion – a certificate only

              Outstanding Paper Award – a certificate only
